About Maneklal Nanavati Law College

Maneklal Nanavati Law College ranks among one of the premier institutions of the Gujarat Law Society located at Lal Darwaja, the centre of the city of Ahmedabad. In June 1961, the College was inaugurated by the first Chief Justice of the High Court of Gujarat, Hon’ble Mr. Justice K. T. Desai. The College was the third Law College established by the Gujarat Law Society in order to cater the need of the society. The College was the only afternoon Law College of the Gujarat Law Society at the time of establishment. Initially the College was named as the “New Law College”.
In the year 1976, the name of the College was changed as “Maneklal Nanavati Law College” from the name of advocate shri Maneklal Nanavati. Late Shri Maneklal Nanavati was an eminent lawyer of the State of Gujarat, started his practice from a small village of Gujarat, Jambusar.
To spread legal knowledge and develop legal research culture among the society is the aim of the College with the motto “Lux gentium lex” i.e. “Law is the light of the nations”.

Vision :

To spread legal awareness in the society by imparting graduate as well as diploma courses in law, to appraise the citizens about their rights, to form a bridge between the academic knowledge and professional practice, to develop and deploy research culture in the region and to uphold the rule of law in order to secure the ends of justice.

Mission :

  • To impart practical and ethical legal education to the root of the society
  • To make continuous improvement in the systems as well as infrastructure and to enrich the library with modern facilities;
  • To have qualified, competent, dedicated and enthusiastic faculty having update practical knowledge in the field of law.
  • To obtain excellence in educating legal professionals and research scholars.

Internal Compliance Committee (ICC) :

As per Gujarat University Internal Compliance Committee : Regulations, 2005, the College constituted its Internal Compliance Committee (ICC) on 30th December, 2005.

CWDC of the College will take all the required Steps :

  • To prevent or deter the commission of act/any kind of harassment, including sexual harassment of women students and staff.
  • To make women students and staff aware of their rights.
  • To offer guidance, counseling and special learning resource facility to women students.

College Timings :

The college is functional for all the academic and cultural activities on all week days from Monday to Saturday between 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
