Courses Offered by the College

The College imparts instruction in the courses leading to the degrees of LL.B. (General) at the end of two academic years and LL.B. (Special) at the end of three academic years. Each academic year is divided into two Semesters viz. Monsoon Semester and Winter Semester.

LL.B. Programme

LL.B. (General) is a 2 year degree course comprising First LL.B. -2 semesters and Second LL.B.-2 semesters. LL.B. (Special) is a 3 year degree course comprising additional 2 semesters of Third LL.B. LL.B. (Special) degree entitles student to enroll as an advocate.

The LL.B. syllabus has been updated in consultation with the requirements and recommendations of both the Bar Council of India in 1997 and the UGC Model Curriculum: Law -2001. The students of First LL.B., Second LL.B., Third LL.B. have to do the courses as prescribed in the following papers.

Eligibility for Admission:

  • A person who has passed the Bachelor’s degree examination in any Faculty of Gujarat University or an examination of any other university recognized as equivalent thereto, securing at least 45 % marks in the aggregate is eligible for admission to the LL.B. General courses.
  • A person who has obtained degree of LL.B. General is eligible for admission to the LL.B. Special course. The admission to the LL.B. courses is given as per the rules of the Bar Council of India. The seats for admission to the LL.B. courses are subject to reservation as per the Gujarat University rules.

The details on objectives of the course, syllabus and select bibliography for each of the twenty-eight Papers are given in the LL.B. syllabus for the Faculty of Law, Gujarat University. The students are examined by the Gujarat University at the end of each semester.

Diploma Courses

Kanaiyalal Motilal Institute of Taxation & Labour Laws run by Maneklal Nanavati Law College, Ahmedabad.

The College runs ‘Kanaiyalal Motilal Institute of Taxation & Labour Laws’ offering two Certificate Diploma Courses having duration of one year viz. Diploma in Taxation Laws and Practice (DTP) and Diploma in Labour Laws and Practice (DLP).

Diploma in Labour Laws & Practice (DLP) :

Duration : One Year

Subjects :

  1. Factories Act, Employees’ Compensation Act, Payment of Wages Act, etc.
  2. Gujarat Industrial Relations Act, Industrial Disputes Act, Provident Fund Act
  3. Labour Economics and Trade Unions Act

Eligibility for Admission :

A person who has passed the Bachelor’s degree examination in any Faculty of Gujarat University or an examination of any other university recognized as equivalent thereto is eligible for admission to the DLP course.

Diploma in Taxation Laws & Practice (DTP)

Duration : One Year

Eligibility for Admission:

A person who has passed the B.Com., B.B.A. or the LL.B. Degree Examination of the Gujarat University or of any other University recognized as equivalent thereto  is eligible for the admission to the DTP course.
